For the People, a political media organization that breaks down politics affecting people of color and young people, announced they will host the first ever “People’s Conference” in July 2022. Over the course of four days, a bipartisan, nationwide elected group of voters will discuss, and learn more about, policies affecting our future, and will vote to support, or not support them.

Tayon Kulos, President and Editor-in-Chief of For the People said in a statement: “This historic meeting of young people and people of color will address the most pressing issues of this moment, and our future. For the first time in our nation’s history, we will provide an amazing look into the beliefs of upcoming leaders. We are truly thrilled for this happen.”

Participants will be chosen through a series of national “mini-conventions,” and the conference will be hosted in Atlanta, Georgia from July 3, 2022 to July 7, 2022.

Beginning in January 2022, the Conference will hold a series of “mini-conventions” in all fifty states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, allowing voters ages 18-26, of color, and from marginalized and underrepresented communities, to make the case for attending the first of its kind event in speeches -- the terms of which will be set by each state. At the state conference, voters will also have the opportunity to share issues they wish to address during the July meeting, before taking a vote.

Winners will be chosen by state leaders of The People’s Conference. 25 delegates from each state will be chosen, allowing for the participation of 1,300 people total.
